Single Vision Lenses

Single vision lenses offer a large area of single prescription power to assist you with your visual requirements. Generally, when a patient has their very first optical prescription, this prescription is a ‘catch all’ - they can usually wear the single vision lenses constantly and they are of use in all areas of vision, such as for distance, reading and anything in between.

As time goes on and the eyes deteriorate, your prescription will change to become more pronounced in either long-sightedness (where distance is seen clearly, but closer objects tend to be out of focus) or short-sightedness (where close objects are seen clearly, but the distance is out of focus). This is when your optician will specify either reading glasses, or distance glasses.

Bi-Aspheric Lenses

Our standard single vision lenses are spherical lenses, which are the most common lenses used across the optical industry. We also offer bi-aspheric lenses, which are more bespoke, and the mapping of the prescription power is more condensed. In most cases, in the same prescription, these lenses will be thinner, lighter and more comfortable for the wearer, due to the wider field of vision made possible by the more concentrated mapping of the prescription across the lens.
